Nicole Schapiro is currently a full-time, licensed, Certified Athletic Trainer and a Certified Orthopaedic Technologist at the National Sports Medicine Institute. She is an integral member of the medical team both in the office as well as in the operating room. Nicole evaluates, triages and treats medical and musculoskeletal pathology in coordination with her supervising orthopaedic surgeons. In the operating room, Nicole scrubs-in on surgical cases as a primary surgical assistant in order to ensure safety, continuity of care, quality surgical outcomes and operating room efficiency. Nicole also assists on the faculty of the National Sports Medicine Foundation’s post-graduate Athletic Training Residency Program. Her practice and research interests focus on Sports Medicine care for athletes.
Nicole is from Westminster, Maryland and graduated from Westminster High School, earned her bachelor’s degree from Penn State University and her master’s degree from Old Dominion University. She is highly skilled in the treatment of elite athletes through her years of experience caring for Division I athletes for Penn State football, wrestling, lacrosse, and swimming and diving. She also has experience as a high school athletic trainer for Norfolk Public Schools. She served as the head athletic trainer for Norview High School and Booker T. Washington High School. In July 2021, Nicole graduated from the 12-month long National Sports Medicine Foundation’s post-graduate Athletic Training Residency Program.
Outside of work, Nicole enjoys cooking and trying new foods, traveling, and watching sports.
