Elizabeth (Liz) Zwicker joined National Sports Medicine Institute in August 2018 as a resident. She now is a full-time, licensed, Certified Athletic Trainer and a Certified Orthopaedic Technologist. Liz is an integral member of the medical team both in the office as well as in the operating room. In August of 2021 she was appointed Co-Director of the National Sports Medicine Foundation Residency Program and was promoted to Director of Clinical Athletic Training services that September.

Liz evaluates, triages and treats medical and musculoskeletal pathology in coordination with her supervising surgeons. In the operating room, Liz scrubs-in on surgical cases as a primary surgical assistant in order to ensure safety, continuity of care, quality surgical outcomes and operating room efficiency.  Liz actively teaches on the faculty of the National Sports Medicine Foundation’s post-graduate Athletic Training Residency Program.  Her practice and research interests focus on Sports Medicine care for the collegiate and professional athletes.

Liz graduated from Briar Woods High School, earned her bachelor’s degree from James Madison University and her master’s degree from Shenandoah University.  She is highly skilled in the treatment of elite athletes through her years of experience caring for NCAA Division 1 athletes for the Men’s and Women’s basketball team at University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN. and the football and tennis teams at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte. In 2019, Liz graduated from the 12-month long National Sports Medicine Foundation’s post-graduate Athletic Training Residency Program.

Outside of work Liz enjoys spending time with family, trying new things and traveling.
